Art Therapy is for everyone
I use art therapy directives along with talk therapy techniques to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how to work with their emotions instead of fighting against them. So much in the world impacts our ability to find calm and balance, and therapy provides a safe space to reassess your personal values and tune into your internal strengths. Art making in therapy can help provide clarity and focus through safe expression of big or difficult emotions and stressful experiences, provide an outlet for stress and anger, and help us learn our patterns and how to make effective changes.
I graduated with my Masters in Art Therapy from School of Visual Arts in 2012. For 10 years following, I worked in residential treatment settings for children and adolescents struggling with mental health, trauma, difficult family situations, and unsafe coping mechanisms. I opened my private practice in 2020 and work primarily with adolescents and young adults.
